Non-invasively determining risk for cardiovascular diseases made easy

For an easy and immediate cardiovascular risk prediction for major chronic diseases, such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease and renal failure, the AGE-Reader was developed. It assesses the accumulation of advanced glycation end products (AGEs) in patients, non-invasively. This is done by using auto-fluorescence of the skin with ultraviolet light, measured by an AvaSpec series spectrometer. AGEs have an important role in the development of chronic complications of diabetes and other common conditions. The amount of AGE in tissue serves as an important risk predictor of such complications.

The AGE-Reader has been used to test many thousands of patients over the last decade because it supplies directly usable results, in a comfortable and safe way for both the medical professional and the patient.
