Avantes is eagerly anticipating the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 44th annual Photovoltaic Specialist Conference to be held in Washington, D.C. June 25-30th, 2017.

This conference brings together leading experts in the science and technology of photovoltaics to discuss recent developments ranging from fundamental research to new applications, with an emphasis on material science, devices, systems, and solar resources.
It will be Avantes’ first year exhibiting at the IEEE-PVSC show and will be featuring a real-time solar simulator spectra characterization demonstration at booth 116. Solar simulator characterization is a key technology in many PV applications. We will be demonstrating the irradiance capabilities of the AvaSpec-ULS2048x16 to measure a continuous wave solar simulator from ILX Lightwave. This spectrometer employs a back-thinned Hamamatsu CCD detector with a signal to noise ratio of 500:1 and superior quantum efficiency. This solar simulator characterization demo will also showcase the AvaSpec-2048XL measuring a Sinton Instrument pulsed xenon solar simulator. Thanks to the integrated electronic shutter, the XL instrument boasts integration times of just 0.002 seconds (2 microseconds). Avantes will also demonstrate a thin film metrology set up.
