Booth #8656

Avantes will be debuting the latest innovations in our NIRLine and SensLine of spectrometers at the SPIE BiOS conference with our Biomedical demonstrations.

  • Skin Reflectance

The key wavelength range for biomedical applications is in the red optical and NIR regions between 650 and 1350nm, called the therapeutic window. This range is where light has maximum penetration into living tissue.

  • Protein Differentiation

Spectroscopy is a key technology for biomedical advances. We see applications for spectroscopy in analysis of amino acids. Fluorescence, capillary electrophoresis and UV/Vis absorbance techniques are commonly performed on protein samples.

The World’s Largest Photonics Technologies Event

Avantes has been a longtime attendee and supporter of SPIE and the Photonics West Exhibition. This year’s exhibition will mark Avantes’ 15th anniversary attending Photonics West. This conference gives us a chance to show off our new featured products while meeting and learning from our peers in the industry. We value the opportunity to meet our colleagues and peers, and we feel that this event fuels our excitement and ambitions for the year to come.

The world’s #1 laser and photonics technology event boasts more than 23,000 attendees, thousands of exhibitors, and hundreds of presentations, symposia, and contributions presented by scientists, engineers, and executives in the field.

SPIE was founded in 1955 as the Society of Photographic Instrumentation Engineers. They changed their name to the Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers later, in 1964, and again in 1981, becoming SPIE-The International Society for Optical Engineering.

The Photonics West Exhibition was first held in 1997 and was an instant success with more than 10,000 attendees and nearly 500 exhibitors the first year. Today the conference has grown to one of the most important annual events in the field of optics and light-based technologies and organizes technical conferences, trade exhibitions, and continuing education programs for researchers and developers in the light-based fields of physics, including optics, photonics, and imaging engineering.
