Benno Oderkerk, CEO of Avantes, meets Her Majesty Queen Máxima during German Trade Mission.
Avantes was honoured to participate in the February 2017 Dutch economic mission to Eastern Germany under the direction of the Dutch Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, Lilianne Ploumen. The trade mission to the German states coincides with the annual visit to the nation by His Majesty King Willem-Alexander and Her Majesty Queen Máxima.
Avantes Joins the Dutch Economic Trade Mission to Eastern Germany
The purpose of the trade visit was strengthening the relations between the Netherlands and the respective states of Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, and Thuringia to promote trade and mutual investment and technological cooperation. The focus of the mission was to promote advancements in the areas of photonics/optics and semiconductors, bio-based chemistry, and water/flood management.
The mission’s agenda included seminars and corporate matchmaking sessions between German and Dutch companies, research institutions, and governmental agencies aimed at fostering the exchange of ideas and cooperation in future development.
Avantes was fortunate to have the opportunity to present a demonstration of our spectrometers to His Majesty, King Willem-Alexander, Her Majesty, Queen Máxima and Minister Ploumen. We presented the open casing of a AvaSpec-Mini, explaining the principles of spectroscopy, and then demonstrated our ability to measure into the NIR range with the AvaSpec-ULS2048CL-EVO measuring blue fluorescent light from an argon gas plasma disk.
Benno Oderkerk, CEO of Avantes, was rewarded with the opportunity to speak with His Majesty about the applications for spectroscopy everywhere from future missions to Mars to healthcare and agriculture. His Majesty was particularly interested in our agricultural application in milk production.
