Assignment
Spectrometers are essential instruments used to analyze and measure light properties across various spectral ranges for different applications. When operating in the UV region, purging the spectrometer is crucial, as oxygen and moisture in the air can absorb UV light, leading to interference and reduced measurement accuracy. Purging the spectrometer by filling it with an inert gas, such as nitrogen or argon, displaces oxygen and moisture, ensuring that these contaminants do not compromise the spectrometer’s performance. This process helps maintain data integrity and improve precision in UV measurements.
Understanding the impact of purging conditions on spectrometer performance is critical for optimizing experimental setups and enhancing the overall accuracy of spectroscopic measurement
Objective
The main goal of this internship project is to design a purging variant of an existing spectrometer and conduct an experimental evaluation of its purging efficiency. This will involve:
- Proposing and optimizing a purging setup for enhanced UV measurements
- Investigating different methods and their effectiveness
- Experimentally assessing the influence of purging on spectrometer performance.
